From Birthday To Work

Yesterday was Sean's birthday! We celebrated by having over some of his oldest friends. He's known most of these guys since he was in kindergarten! They ate HUGE steaks grilled by grill-master Ed, JW's shrimp-ca-bobs , drank beer and just hung out. It was a great time.

For another 'blast-from-the-past moment'. . . . Ms. Mitchell (aka Karen or Billie to one other) was in town for the birth of her adorable grandson and found the time to stop by and see the guys. Ms Mitchell worked in the elementary school library throughout Sean's school-life. She was one of his favorite people at HHES and Sean was so excited to see her. Things like that make me wish that I had deeper roots here. Valdez is such a silly place; but people who have no blood-ties treat their long-time buddies as family. Its pretty cool . . .

Today is Sean's first day back to work after 3 months off to recover from his surgery. He's healed relatively nicely. There is still a lot of pain and swelling - but he gets around well. It's weird not having him home today. All but three days/nights we were together. It was a lot of quality family time that couldn't have come at a better time. Sean was home for Addison's first steps, words, birthday and many other memorable moments.

(Notice the mark above her left eyebrow - she took two big falls in two days!! My poor baby!)
