My Baby, Happy Birthday

Hoooorrrrrraaaayyy!!! Addison is one year old!!!

My sweet baby is now a toddler! And she knows it too!! Look at her holding up one finger!

We celebrated Addison's birthday in pink & purple style with a 'pink poodle in paris' party. We had poodle wall stickers, poodle cake decorations, 89 pink & purple balloons (64 helium-filled & 25 air-filled), poodle serving ware, poodle favors, poodle dress (which had to be changed after the cake) and even pink boas decorating the banister.

Okay, I made Addison's birthday cake. yikes.

It took me two 'tester cakes' to get to this one.

Addison didn't mind that it leaned and she certainly didn't care about the taste. For her it was all about mashing the cake in between her fingers.

The only bit of cake and frosting that made it into her mouth was what I put in there and it made her shudder. I hope its only because it was the first real sweet that she's ever had and not because it was gross (it was a box mix - how bad could I mess it up . . . right??!!)!

Addison had so many of her little and big friends over to celebrate with her. Here are pictures of some of the little ones (and a couple of the big ones):

Uncle Kyle stayed behind after the party was over to make sure he got to spend a little extra time with his favorite niece. The baby didn't get to bed until a little after 10pm - and boy was she out!!

Uncle Clint was able to make it back from his work training in Dallas for Addison's party. This kiss must have been her way of thanking him for coming up for her!!

Addison was completely spoiled on her birthday. Everyone was so generous. She even received several homemade gifts. Jenna gave her (& I) this BEAUTIFUL poem framed with her picture. I cried reading it out loud (how embarrassing). I still can't read the poem with out tearing up!

Staci is incredibly talented when it comes ot all things creative and this GORGEOUS quilt is no exception. She made it for Addison and it even has Addison's name embroidered in the corner!

Eli gave her a gift (in his own little way) - he let her tug at his ear one time; something I know that she's wanted to do for quite sometime!

It's amazing to think that one year ago today Sean & I became a family of three! No matter how old Addison gets we'll ALWAYS be her parents. Life just doesn't get any better than that.

Addison, My Baby, Happy Birthday! Your first year was the most incredible year of my life. I enjoyed spending every bit of time with you. I am so fortunate to have shared in everyday of your life thus far. I have been the lucky one that got to put you to sleep every night, fed you your first meals, read you your first stories and gave you your first kiss just mere moments after you were born.

You & I often read the book "On The Night That You Were Born" before you go to bed. In that book it talks about how the animals & the world celebrated the birth of "The One and only ever you." Tonight now more than ever, I celebrate you and the wonderful person you have already grown to be (with a pink poodle party of course). I am so thankful that I was chosen to be YOUR Mommy.

While I don't think Addison understood the decorations, the cake or why everyone was at her house, I do believe that she knew that it was all for her. She loved running from room to room finding more little friends to play with and hanging out in the laps of her big friends in the kitchen. She enjoyed her party that we worked so hard to give her. What better thanks could a person ask for than a big smile & a kiss like this!

Man alive, with the first year being so great I just know that we have another astonishing year ahead of us!
