Ultrasounds and X-Rays

The day after the Kids Christmas Party, Clint flew down and drove up to Anchorage with Addison and I. Addison had appointments for Ultrasounds, a X-Ray and an appointment with a Pediatric Specialist. We've been to the doctors here locally, and to Addison's Peditrician to find out what was causing her severe pain.

Now here is where I get to brag: Addison was such a good girl during her exams, ultrasounds and tests. She did so good. Never cried never had a terrified moment. I am just so proud. NOW that is not to say she enjoyed it - she really could have done without the X-Ray. We had to take three and right as the last one was finished she looked up at me and said, "All done. No more please." Thankfully, I was able to tell her that we were done. Whew! But really, I could not have dreamt of her dealing with it any better than she did. Whatta girl!


So far they've narrowed it down to bladder spasms - which are apparently incredibly painful. It is something she should be able to grow out of; but if it happens again they want to see her again to do an internal exam. The thought of this scares me so bad. They'd actually have to put her under anesthesia and admit her into the Children's Hospital. I'm praying for that and many other reasons that this little nightmare is OVER!

On the upside, spending most of December in Anchorage has allowed us to spend lots of time with Nana & Grandpapadopolis.


Everytime we went to Anchorage we got stuck there. The roads home ended up closing due to bad weather - including a record-breaking 6.5 foot snowfall in less than three days! What a great place to get stuck - good company, good food and just a relaxing time (which was appreciated beyond belief - especially considering the reason we were there)!

We were just up in Anchorage so Sean could see the Doctor again. This time he pulled Sean's pins. I won't go into any detail in case you have a weak stomach; but I will say: Holy Cow! That HAD to hurt! Sean is still dealing with some nerve pain, but with physical therapy it should go away over the next two weeks or so.


Sean was very excited to hear that he is now able to leave the couch. He is to begin putting a small amount of weight on his foot several times a day with the boot). Over the next three weeks his goal is to become crutch-less! I don't know which makes him happier - leaving his island (the couch) or loosing the crutches. He'll still be in the boot for several weeks afterwards - but the light is definitely there.

The other nice part of the doctor's visit in Anchorage is that we got to spend time with family & the Hubbells. We haven't gotten to spend near as much time as we would like with Jennifer, Billy & Will since they've been up here but hope to change that now that summer is almost here.




Will is such a good kid and he's very cautious with Addison. He's careful not to step on her or accidently knock her down and was very quick to share his toys with her.


We also got time with Nana, Grandpapadopolis, Phil & Colin. Addison got some snuggle time with both grandpapadoplis and Nana.



Phil tried to get some computer work done. As you can see, it wasn't very successful.


Addison nearly hyperventilated when she saw Colin. She was so excited to play with her little cousin!


While we were there, Sean hooked his computer up to the tv and Addison was thrilled to see her pictures enlarged. She squealed, laughed, clapped her hands and pointed to the screen to make sure we all could see the pictures.



Addison & I got to visit Billy's plane (MD-11) while we were up there. Addison seemed pretty impressed with all of the buttons but was most excited to see all of the other kids that got to visit the cockpit.



All in all it was a great trip - easy for me to say; I wasn't the one who had pins pulled!!!

Visiting Nana & Grandpapadopolis

The best part of Sean needing his surgery done in Anchorage is that we got to spend a week and a half with Nana & Grandpapadopolis.We had such a great time staying with them.


And can't you tell tht Addison loved being the center of their attention??

Addison & Colin played very well together. One time there was a toy on the activity table that they both wanted and after warning Colin, several times to let her play with it Addison picked up Colin's hand and moved it out of her way. It was surprising to see her be so assertive with another little one. Colin didn't put up a fight and graciously gave in and went onto the next toy.
